In the first of our ‘Meet the Stylists’ posts, we’d like to introduce Jo, one of our most accomplished and fabulously nimble-fingered hair replacement stylists.
Jo is not only a master stylist with considerable hair replacement experience, she is kind, compassionate and sincere; and we regularly receive outstanding feedback about her services and all round care.
Jo is an affiliate Hair Hub stylist and offers the complete range of hair replacement services from her purpose-built salon on the outskirts of Swindon, Wiltshire.
Say hello to Jo!
How long have you been in the hair replacement industry?
I’ve been hairdressing for 26 years. This includes a varied hairdressing career from stylist, salon manger, teaching/lecturing at college and now salon owner.
How long have you been a hair replacement stylist?
For the past 10-11 years I’ve been working as a hair replacement specialist, building a loyal customer-base.
Why did to choose to specialise in hair replacement?
I chose this specialisation due to my passion for the industry. It enables me to help others to achieve their ideal appearance, plus increase their confidence which is extremely satisfying.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding aspect is having the ability to change clients’ looks; to boost their confidence and their happiness.
What do you like the least?
There is absolutely no aspect of the job I would change. I love it!
Do you have any words of advice for hair system customers?
Always have a spare system in case of emergency and pre-plan ordering where possible. It’s also useful to notify your stylist in advance of any important dates pending, such as a holiday, so we can prioritise orders.
Do you have a favourite hair system type to work with?
My favourite hair system is made from a lace front and top with a PU back and sides.
What’s the most commonly asked questions from customers?
How long does system last? Will it fall off? And, will people notice?
How long a hair system lasts will vary from person to person, and is entirely dependent on which type of system they choose. An ultra-fine and delicate lace hair system with human hair will look its best for 3-4 months. They can be worn for longer, but hair shedding and colour loss may occur. A heavier monofilament hair system could easily last for a year or more.
No, hair systems do not ‘fall off’, if bonded correctly. (Review this previous blog post on achieving the perfect bond).
Hair systems are designed to look and act like a normal head of hair. The right hair system from the right supplier should be undetectable. (More on hair system appearance here.)
When you’re not snipping hair, what do you like to do?
Walk the dog, go to the gym, read and spend time with my lovely family.
